Beneath the Clouds
Created in 2022, Beneath the Clouds is inspired by the realities of dealing with the genetic mutation in our extended family after learning that my cousin carries the BRCA2 gene along with his daughters, while we have the BRCA1 mutation. The threat continues to rear its’ ugly head even in spite of the knowledge we have gained. Moreover, It carries with it a heavy burden. As my generation has become the “older” generation, the strain of what was is intertwined with what will be. The creation of this piece reflects the grid of hope that with the advances of science, one day this mutation will fade away.
Individual 24 x 18” panels, mixed media on unstretched canvas panels, surrounding a 70 × 53” large canvas in the middle.
